Associate Performance Engineer

Metrix IT, a leading technology solutions provider, is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Performance Engineer to join our dynamic team in Austin, TX. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive performance testing strategies aligned with project requirements and business objectives, ensuring thorough coverage and realistic simulations.
• Design and execute a variety of performance tests, including load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing, utilizing industry-leading tools such as JMeter and LoadRunner to simulate real-world scenarios.
• Conduct in-depth application performance analysis across various tiers (front-end, application server, database) to identify system bottlenecks, diagnose root causes, and propose effective solutions.
• Collaborate closely with development, quality assurance, and operations teams to recommend and implement robust performance tuning solutions and architectural optimizations.
• Integrate performance testing activities seamlessly into existing CI/CD pipelines to support continuous performance validation and ensure performance regression is caught early in the development lifecycle.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and system health metrics using various monitoring tools, providing regular, insightful reports and actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
• Contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of API testing frameworks, ensuring that all application programming interfaces (RESTful, SOAP) meet stringent performance, reliability, and security standards.
• Participate in design reviews to provide input on performance considerations and architectural decisions, advocating for performance best practices from inception.

Requirements

• Proven strong experience (typically 3+ years) in performance testing, performance engineering principles, and the development of effective test strategies for enterprise-level applications.
• Hands-on proficiency and expert-level experience with major performance testing tools, specifically JMeter and LoadRunner, including scripting, scenario creation, and results analysis.
• Extensive practical experience in executing diverse performance test types, such as load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing, across various platforms and environments.
• Demonstrated ability in comprehensive application performance analysis, proactive bottleneck identification, and advanced root cause analysis using a range of diagnostic tools.
• Strong familiarity with various performance monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, New Relic, AppDynamics, Prometheus) and a deep understanding of performance tuning methodologies for databases, application servers, and operating systems.
• Practical experience with API testing, including understanding different API architectures and how to effectively test their performance.
• Solid understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Shell) and automation techniques crucial for efficient performance test execution and reporting.
• Experience with CI/CD integration practices and a strong commitment to fostering a culture of continuous performance improvement within an Agile development framework.
